Privacy Policy

Float is a video game collection tracker. For privacy questions, contact us through the Contact page or, if you have an account, in-app Feedback with the subject “Privacy request.”

This policy covers personal information we process as operator of the Service. Catalog facts about games (title, platform, published guide prices) are not, by themselves, personal information about you.

Depending on how you use Float, we may collect the categories below.

Account and identity. Email address, password (stored as a hash by our auth provider, not in readable form on our app servers), account ID, and whether the session is a personal account or a temporary guest session.

Collection and wishlist data. Games you add, platform and region as listed in our catalog, condition (for example sealed / new, CIB, loose, graded), quantity, optional purchase price, and timestamps. This is the core of the product and is tied to your account.

Communications. Messages you send through Feedback or Contact, including product ideas, bug reports, and privacy/legal requests.

Technical and usage data. IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, approximate location derived from IP, and diagnostic logs. Our hosting provider may generate this automatically when you load the site.

Cookie and similar identifiers. Session tokens and short-lived sign-up cookies described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers, payment card numbers, or precise GPS location. If paid plans are added later, billing details would typically be handled by a payment processor; we would update this policy before that launch.

• You, when you sign up, sign in, edit a collection, or send feedback.
• Your device, through cookies and standard web logs.
• Our processors (authentication, database, hosting) acting on our instructions.
• Public or licensed catalog and price-guide sources that populate the game catalog — not as a profile of you, unless you attach a catalog game to your account.

We use personal information to:

• Create and secure accounts, including email confirmation.
• Show your dashboard, portfolio, wishlist, and related estimates.
• Operate Discover, search, and game pages using our stored catalog and price snapshots.
• Respond to feedback and support or legal requests.
• Keep the Service reliable (security, fraud prevention, debugging, backups).
• Understand aggregate product usage so we can improve Float.
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

If you are in a region that requires a “legal basis,” we typically rely on:

• Contract — to provide the account and collection tracker you asked for.
• Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, understand how it is used in aggregate, and improve the product, in ways that do not override your rights.
• Consent — where we use optional cookies or similar technologies that are not strictly necessary (see the Cookie Policy).
• Legal obligation — when we must keep or disclose information for law or dispute resolution.

We share personal information only as needed:

• Processors. Infrastructure vendors who host the app, store data, handle sign-in, and store catalog images. They may only use the data to provide those services to us.
• Data providers (catalog, not your holdings). Price-guide and marketplace-insight sources supply values and identifiers we store as catalog snapshots. Those providers receive whatever is required to return public market data — not your portfolio unless you separately use those services yourself.
• Legal and safety. If required by law, court order, or to protect Float, users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If we merge, sell, or reorganize, information may move with the Service under this policy or a successor policy.

Team members who operate Float may see account email and feedback in order to run the product. Collection contents are visible to us only as needed for support, security, or to operate features you use.

We keep account and collection data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information we control within a reasonable period, unless we must keep a limited record (for example to complete a security investigation or meet a legal duty).

Server logs are typically kept for a short operational window. Catalog-wide price history is not personal data and may be kept indefinitely as part of the product.

Guest or shared test sessions should not be treated as a durable personal archive; we may reset them.

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords via our auth provider, and access controls on the database. No online service is 100% secure. You can help by choosing a strong unique password and signing out on shared devices.

We operate using cloud providers that may process data in the United States and other countries. If you use Float from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to those locations. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by our processors (such as standard contractual clauses).

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate account or collection data (you can edit much of this in the product).
• Delete your account and associated personal data.
• Export your collection data in a portable format when we offer that tool, or by requesting it from us.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent for optional cookies.
• Appeal a denial of a privacy request, and contact a data protection authority.

U.S. state privacy laws (including California) may also give you rights to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for advertising. Float does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those laws define those terms. We also do not use sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics.

To make a request, use Contact or in-app Feedback titled “Privacy request.” We may need to verify the email on the account. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows, with proof of authority.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

Float is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

We will post updates on this page and revise the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide a more prominent notice when required.
